Sat/11.30.19/ 7:00 to 10 PM Pacific Room Alki with Randy Halberstadt on keys and Drew Baddely on bass
I am very excited to have the opportunity to perform in a new venue called the Pacific Room located on Alki. I have some new tunes to show off and a wonderful trio to really showcase these new songs.
Randy Halberstadt has been a major figure on the Pacific Northwest jazz scene for many years. A multi-dimensional pianist, he is equally at home playing bebop, Latin, down-home blues, mainstream, free and eclectic jazz. He has performed with Herb Ellis, Terry Gibbs, Buddy de Franco, Matt Wilson, Pete Christlieb, Bobby Shew, Joe LaBarbera, and many others. In 1990, Randy performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival with drummer Mel Brown. Randy has performed with the Seattle Symphony and is the pianist for the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra.
Drew Baddeley holds a Master of Music Degree in Bass Performance from Central Washington University. In addition to being a teaching artist with Seattle Music Partners,
Drew helps coach Jazz Ensembles at Jackson High School, Heatherwood Middle School, and is the Jazz History and History of Rock & Roll Professor at Central Washington University’s Sammamish Campus. When he is not teaching, Drew is also an on-call bassist and arranger around the Greater Seattle area.
Here is what the Seattle Scene recently had to say about the Pacific Room
What is the blue blazes is going on at the Pacific Room Alki? The West Seattle supper club is taking on some of the biggest names in Seattle jazz, as well as some up and comers. Many of the resident artists from the now-shuttered Tula’s Jazz Club are taking a chance on the club, as well as a variety of the other usual suspects- namely the Royal Room in Columbia City, and Egan’s in Ballard.
While one couldn’t imagine the room replacing the clubhouse vibe of Tula’s for the musicians themselves, jazz fans will be receiving about the same- a jazz supper club with a moderate cover charge, featuring high-end cuisine and cocktails. In other words, this is not a hang spot, at least not yet, but a comfortable dinner club with spectacular views. It may not quell the main complaint about Tula’s- the pricetag after cover, dinner, and drinks. Much is yet to be seen, but it is encouraging to see management at the club understanding the value of the music in their room. One would expect in time that they will figure out where the talent lies, and book accordingly.
